just watch a youtube video about how Luanda became one of the richest area in Africa. there is direct flight airways service from America. they have international school that send student regularly to Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford.
thanks to god’s blessing and Luanda oil industry. i just thought how virtually remote area in Africa has access to the best uni in the world. i just thinking if Africa can do such things, why don’t Sapudi do the same?
i assumed i have tortured myself by anchoring Sapudi and other 3T area as remote and worth to develop, while placing Stanford Harvard and Oxford or even Tsinghua University as a symbol or can be kawah candradimuka, as sign of modern culture and better chance to the better world. like those personal stigma was originated from:
the Earth with its million years age keep evolving, and eventually giving its best things for us. while Humans, who constantly lacks of time, can do similar thing with relatively shorter of time, by nurturing talents as best and much as possible for the world, and for the sake of common good.
so do Sapudi, and other 3T area’s Humans. how we can nurture our talents, taking some benchmark, let say: start initiatives to prepare remote students afford themselves to attend the world class universities like Harvard, Tsinghua, Oxford, Stanford?
we might think that the first challenge for the ’nurtured’ students is supposed to be cultural gap and shock. but for me it was second thing we need to consider.
in this modern interconnected world, knowledge and science has been accessible enough for all human around the world. we all virtually connected. i think it would be nice to have the chance to connect to the real physical world as well, — interconnectedly —.
while American student and Sapudian people can virtually consume the similar technologies such as chatgpt and youtube, it should be possible to connect them physically as well. as elon musk said, “the law of Physics is the limit”.
now come to the next challenging part.
every project needs volunteer and funding. i just think the same about those aspect if we connect Sapudi to the world.
Luanda was blessed with oil, which funding themself towards connected school to Harvard and others uni. yes, the student might be not 100% local and dominated with expatriate kids. but still, lets keep thinking. we currently challenging physical challenge, turning it to virtual challenge aka possible to do send remote student to anywhere in the world, including best uni in the world. lets not to let Sapudian and other 3T students down.
if volunteers can be a bunch of good hearted people, my second thinking is what and how to build the best funding resource model? relying on donor only might was not the best model, apalagi relying on government blessing. you might have guessed why. endowment fund might in the first list, but how much fund do we need and how fast we can raise? local source crowdfunding is doable, but i currently have no idea how to do it –sustain it– at scale.
Pesantren’s funding model is possible as well. small Pesantrens in Situbondo has experience in running education institution who send their ‘graduated’ students abroad, including to Cairo Al Ahzar.
ah, idk. aiming 20 students per year to Harvard might sound too few, but it banyak enough at Sapudi pilot scale.
oh, i just remember about a pesantren in Mojokerto who consistently send their graduate students internationally. how did they managed that?
